Naiba means "Not liked" in the Maa language. Naiba was the only wildebeest we collared so far who did not like her collar right away. She
tossed her head for a minute or two, until she got used to it. Naiba was unusual in another way. Although the veterinarians judged her to be of
only middle-age, her teeth were worn down like an old wildebeest. The veterinarians believed that she had some mineral deficiencies.
