Kayioni means "Small Boy" in the Maa language, a fitting name for this youthful wildebeest. These animals can live for more than 15
years, and at just five years old, Kayioni is just a teenager. In fact, so far, Kayioni is the youngest wildebeest we have collared. The picture of
Kayioni shows how difficult it can be to see the collars. We would watch an animal that left after being collared, and have a hard time spotting which
animal in a herd carried the collar. This is no-doubt partly due to the white beards wildebeest have, helping the light-collared canister on the collar blend in.
