Naisula was late in getting her name, because the local students who had named the animals were not with us the last day we collared in the Mara and darted this wildebeest.
But her movements in the first three months she has worn her collar made the choice easy. "Naisula" means
champion or
winner, and her moving all the way into the Serengeti qualifies her for that name!
Naisula was collared right near a road, in the Loita Plains of the Maasai Mara region.
