This symposium is a joint effort between The Field Museum of Natural History and The Brazilian Consulate General at Chicago, Illinois. It aims to gather scientists from Brazil, the United States, and Europe, to discuss recent developments in environmentally-related disciplines in Brazil.

Scientists from a number of institutions throughout the world will present and discuss their research projects in the Amazon, the Atlantic Rainforest, the Cerrado and other Brazilian ecosystems. An open forum designed to bring together Brazilian and American journalists and the symposium speakers will provide an opportunity to discuss current issues including the destruction of natural resources, loss of biodiversity and other critical environmental issues in Brazil.

The Spring Symposium series has been a great scientific tradition at The Field Museum for more than 20 years. We anticipate that the Brazil symposium will yield an outstanding array of scientific presentations and valuable discussions.
