Identification numbers are used in several areas of model configuration. For site parameter sets, these numbers are used in combination with latitude and longitude to uniquely identify each site. An ID number is optional for an individual site. For mulitiple site parameter sets stored in a spatial netCDF file, the ID numbers are required.
The range of valid ID numbers is 0 to 232 - 1.
Utility programs are available to provide an ID number, or
to replace ID numbers in a site parameters file.
