Are you an undergradute student interested in ecological research?
Then the SUPER program is for you!!

The SUPER (Skills for Undergraduate Participation in Ecological Research) program is aimed at sophomore and junior undergraduate students interested in gaining experience with a research group (freshman and senior students may also be welcome, depending on course enrollment). It is our goal for you to have an enhanced student research experience by teaching you to:

  • Increase your scientific critical thinking skills.
  • Increase your scientific literacy.
  • Gain confidence in your ability to do research.

This will be achieved through instruction and active learning activities about how and why research is done.

The SUPER program:
Completion of the whole program is two semesters.

Semester 1 ESS 220 (Fall): Participate in 8 evening workshops and weekly online discussions.
Semester 2 ESS 221 and ESS 298 (Spring): Participate in mentor-directed research and 8 evening workshops.

After completion of two semesters, you may be able to get a research position at NREL, in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Sustainability, or at another research lab on campus.
