Savanna Ecological Modeling and Economic Modeling
We use two mathematical computer models to add value to long-term climate forecasts.
The Savanna Modeling System is used to model the farm ecosystems, taking computerized maps of resources, weather
information including forecasts, and plant and animal information to provide forecasts of forage availability and
effects of stocking rates. The Economic model balances multiple objectives of South Africa livestock owners
to determine what optimal strategies would be under different climate forecasts. Summarizes and examples of the
Savanna modeling and the Economic modeling have been
prepared.
