Olivia Baxter
Junior - Ecosystem Science and Sustainability
Olivia is a junior majoring in Ecosystem Science and Sustainability. She became interested in environmental science after taking a high school course on the subject. Since then, her interest has increased and inspired her to work as a summer environmental educator at Lauritzen Gardens- Omaha's Botanical Center. During 2016-2017 she will be working with 4th graders at CSU's Environmental Learning Center. She applied for this fellowship in the hopes of gaining new perspectives on the issues that mean the most to her.
Hannah Dresang
Sophomore - Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Biology
Hannah is a sophomore studying Fish, Wildlife & Conservation Biology and is minoring in Global Environmental Sustainability. Her previous research experience centers around invasive, native and endangered species, aiming to improve human relations with the environment. After graduation, Hannah plans on becoming involved in local projects that focus on alleviating environmental problems in developing countries.
Zion Jones
Junior - Ecosystem Science and Sustainability
Zion is from Aurora, Colorado and Studies Ecosystem Science and Sustainability and Ethnic Studies at Colorado State University. She hopes to use her education to encourage more sustainable practices in smaller and less privileged communities across the United States and the world. She is still new to the natural resources and sustainability community and hopes this fellowship will further develop her interests how different people and groups are working toward more Earth friendly lifestyles.
Connor McCartty
Junior - Ecosystem Science and Sustainability
Connor is a junior Ecosystem Science & Sustainability major. He hopes to use his experience in East Africa to pursue other research positions in Colorado and eventually teach more sustainable practices to local communities. His previous field experience has centered around Hawaiian ecosystems, but he is very excited to gain other worldly insight into environmental studies.
Alix Messer
Junior - Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Biology
Alix transferred to Colorado State University last year after earning her Associate in Arts degree from a local community college in Kansas City, Missouri in order to pursue her passion in biology. She is a junior majoring in Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation biology with a minor in English. She hopes to bring awareness about the importance of people leading “greener” lives while coexisting with native flora and fauna.
