Site location is 16°25` N, 15° 30`W.

Annual Rainfall

Rainfall is 150 to 250 mm annually, falling exclusively between July and September.

Annual Temperature

Temperature means are max. 45°C, min 25°C.

Soil

Soil is aridisol, and the landuse pastoral.

Native Forest/Vegetation Types

Vegetation is natural dry savanna dominated by Acacia and Balanites spp. (trees and shrubs).

Principal Biome/Ecoregion

Site Souilène is in the Sahelian savanna zone.
