Wildebeest portrait Nkoko is a particularly fitting name, meaning "Grandmother" in the Maa language. Nkoko is the oldest female we have collared, so far - it is likely that many young wildebeest may consider her Grandmother. Nkoko was the smallest wildebeest we collared in this effort, and had the worn teeth of an older animal. She is still looking good, though, sporting a new (and temporary) spot of blue antiseptic spray where she was darted.
