Backyard BioBlitzAn opportunity for all young people, with help from adults,
to take a first hand look at the biodiversity in their communities. By
spending half-an-hour outdoors one day in May they will see that biodiversity
is just as important and exciting close to home, as it is in rainforests
and coral reefs. They will gain insights into how scientists assess the
biodiversity of an area. By reporting their findings they can participate
in Biodiversity Months Backyard BioBlitz to see how the biodiversity
they find in their playgrounds and back yards compares to biodiversity
found by other children across the country. Check out the Educator's Guide to a Backyard BioBlitz to learn more about conducting a minibioblitz.
